R.O.C. Women’s Prison Ministry
P.O. Box 5983
Colorado Springs, Co. 80931
He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; He set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God.
This is a Christ centered and Biblically minded women’s prison ministry that is fully Relying on Christ (R.O.C.) This is His ministry. This ministry does not belong to man. We’ve been called and established as a ministry by His sovereign grace in the year 2000. Christ is our authority. He is the One Who calls His children to Him. He is the One Who chose us out of darkness. We are accountable and obedient to Him. His Holy Word is our guide and teaching tool. Our dependable Advisor, Christ, has been with us since the beginning, never has failed, and will continue to lead us in His righteousness and train us in His ways. He opens doors and He closes doors. We trust Him. We believe all scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, reproof, correction and for training in righteousness so that the man of God may be adequately equipped for every good work.
VOLUNTEERS: We currently have nine trained volunteers (men and women) and several other guest volunteers. Each one has been called and trained to minister the Word of Truth to the women who are in prison. Our purpose is to teach Christ and proclaim the whole Word of God. We allow His Spirit to pierce hearts, consume, nourish, reveal, reproduce, shine and lead those He has chosen out of darkness into repentance. We must walk as examples of His mercy and grace. We walk in wisdom toward them that may be without, redeeming the time. Our speech must be always with grace and seasoned with salt. Teaching Christ prepares and equips them to discern false teachings and errors. Our purpose is not to bring judgement but to lead them in His Truth so they may examine their own faith and exhort one another daily. God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
PRAYER TEAM: They provide prayer for our entire team when we are ministering inside and/or traveling. They also pray to Christ for the women’s individual prayer requests every week. They are dedicated believers who are effectual, fervent and availeth much through Christ to Whom we pray.
DISCIPLESHIP CORRESPONDENCE : A Biblical correspondence and discipleship for those who are incarcerated through letter writing is provided by these team members. They provide the women with Bible studies, exhortation and encouragement. They also provide an outreach card ministry.
WEEKLY: We have expository Bible Studies where we teach the Gospel of Christ. We read, study, and examine a book of the Bible verse by verse.
MONTHLY: We have a team of men who provide expository Worship Services preaching Christ as the focus, not man. The Word of God is preached and taught by these men called to proclaim the truth and point all to Christ. They shepherd and oversee the Sunday services. They also administer the monthly sacrament of the Lord’s Supper. The Lord’s Supper is the commemoration and proclamation of His death until He comes, and should be always preceded by solemn self-examination (1 Corinthians 11:28-32).
WEEKENDS: We provide weekend seminar sessions (3) where the Word of God is read, examined and applied. We take these seminars to other states as well. Women who are in prison in some states have very few opportunities to attend Christ Centered Biblical studies. These events help provide other facilities with volunteer and discipleship support.
*NEW* CHOIR: A choir of ladies inside meet weekly to practice praise songs of our One true God. They now lead songs during our monthly worship services.
NEWSLETTER: The “CHOSEN” is a newsletter pointing to Christ. It is filled with scripture truths and distributed in various women’s facilities to encourage the women in their daily walk with their Lord and Savior. We have a group of skilled volunteers who provide a variety of devotions, exhortations, scripture memory and other Biblical writings.
DUAL MENTORING: A Dual Mentor (Discipleship) provides one-on-one discipleship for women up to a year before they are released and will follow them through up to a year after their release. We know this discipleship program helps make their transitions outside successful. There are a variety of outreach opportunities and needs for mentoring women on the outside.
R.O.C.’s CORE VALUES:
Centered in Jesus Christ-in our obedience to the Risen Lord.
Grounded in the Holy Bible-in our life and ministry by the reading and studying of His Holy Word.
Dependent on Prayer – as the foundation for seeking His perfect will.
Partnered with His Church – We are united with His Body of Believers.
Committed to Jesus Christ – not to any man, form of manipulation or any other legalistic way as a means of growing the ministry.
Compelled to Disciple – to proclaim Jesus Christ to the lost and to help people grow in the wisdom and understanding of His Truth.
Loving Others – treating all people with grace and respect. We believe that Spiritual maturity calls for us to exercise discretion and respect in all of our speech, actions and behaviors.
Seeking Excellence – by demonstrating honesty, integrity and wise stewardship.
But I do not account my life of any value nor as precious to myself, if only I may finish my course and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.
