My sister was looked upon as someone who would never amount to anything of value or purpose. But our GOD has made my sister a ROSE! She is beautiful and now shines for His Glory! Don’t give up if you think that there isn’t a purpose or plan for your life because every seed has a beginning.
She was born one of many children yet she was special. You wouldn’t know she was special by listening to her life story but God knew. She searched through life with a deep desire to be loved. Men abused and raped her but was this love? She was the only child to be rejected by her mother, the youngest of nine, she was given up, placed in foster homes, and continually hungering for love. Where was this love she so longed for? She hungered for it and yet she feared real love too. She lived in abandonment and earnestly tried to seek comfort in sin but it wasn’t to be found. Upon moving to live with her older sister, thinking real family would make her secure and feel loved, her sister taught her how to use drugs, they sold drugs, she now made friends with drugs, found power in drugs but this wasn’t love.
She was imprisoned, she ran away, she was caught, she went to jail, prison, she ran away again, and she was continually imprisoned over and over still seeking for that one real love. Finally after being imprisoned in a vicious cycle she now faced many years ahead of being locked up. Her fear, rejection, failure, shame, and guilt just mounted up now as she waited for the verdict.
This is where her life started to truly change as He, Jesus, met her there and He called out to her and she heard His voice. There she was lying face down on the concrete floor surrounded by the cold walls of the prison, wrapped in by barbed wire that she had helped put up with her own two hands, weeping and crying out to her God when He came to her, He held her like a true gentleman, and He showed her true love, His Grace filled love. She finally had found what she so desired in life – this was true love! She had found an agape love, forgiveness, grace, and now she had a purpose as she became His ROSE!
Below are the lyrics to THE ROSE but they are slightly changed to tell her story of how she became His Rose.
Some say love, it is a river
That drowns the tender reed
Some say love, it is a razor
That leaves your soul to bleed
Some say love, it is a hunger
An endless aching need
I say love, it is a flower
And you, its only seed
It’s the heart, afraid of breaking
That never learns to dance
It’s the dream, afraid of waking
That never takes the chance
It’s the one who won’t be taken
Who cannot seem to give
And the soul, afraid of dying
That never learns to live
When the night has been too lonely
And the road has been too long
And you think that love is only
for the lucky and the strong
Just remember in the winter
Far beneath the bitter snow
Lies the seed
That with the Son’s love, in the spring (the time that GOD has ordained for her to shine)
Becomes the rose
