At our last worship service inside the prison gates we walked the Roman’s Road with the women. Here is written exactly what was spoken to the women from our dear sister in Christ, Yolanda. She passionately shared the truth of HIS word and the power of HIS salvation. Please, take time to read this or share with others. Today we share part one.
“In the past we’ve had some women come forward to accept the free, gracious gift of God- Which is salvation through Christ – alone.
Today, I want to share what that means, from the Bible, God’s word, His infallible, unchanging word.
When a person receives Christ, they are admitting they are a sinner. They need help. The Bible says we all are unable to help ourselves. So, where does our help come from? It comes from the Lord. Because of His love and kindness and grace, He gives us what we need, in our time of need. He sends us His only son, to be born in a world of sin. To live the life we live here on earth so he can sympathize with all our weaknesses, even though He Himself never fell to sin. He lived among this world of sinners. Those who mocked rejected and hated Him. He heals them, He touches them, and He loves them. He has compassion toward mankind.
His days are long with work His Father has prepared. They are filled with people pressing into Him to be healed as well as ugly sounds that make fun of Him and criticize. But He’s always about the work of His Father.
He also endures much: a crown of thorns shoved down on His head, the bloody whipping and those who spat upon Him. He was nailed in His hands and His feet to a cross. He hung in pain but did not waiver from His mission. Instead, He forgave the sins of His enemies, with grace and love. That’s Jesus. That’s our help. That’s our Savior. He lived a sinless life. He’s the unblemished Lamb, the sacrifice for our sins.
We need a savior because we are sinners from day one. Why? Our heritage. The first man sinned. Ro. 5:12Just as through one man, sin entered the world – and death through sin – so death spread to all men because all sinned. Ro. 5:19 By one man’s disobedience many were made sinners. So also by one Man’s obedience (Jesus) many will be made righteous.
But on our own, the Bible says Ro. 3:10 none are righteous, not one.
That’s our problem. Ro. 3:23That all have sinned and fallen short of God’s glory. But there is a solution! The Bible says Ro. 6:23 the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus. That’s good news! The beautiful thing is, the beautiful truth is that Ro. 5:8 God demonstrates His love for us in that while we were sinners, Christ died for us. It’s not while we were good or decent or sinning less than we ever have. The Bible says Isaiah 64:6 our righteousness is as filthy rags. The rags they mean are used menstrual rags. That’s what our own ‘righteousness’ is compared to. The Bible says that for Ro. 10:13 whoever who calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. It also says that Ro. 10:9 if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. Saved from what? You will be saved from Mk. 3:29 eternal condemnation, Ge. 2:17 from eternal separation from your Creator,
Ro. 2: 5-8 saved from the wrath of God and Rev. 14:10,11 eternal tormenting with fire and brimstone, where the smoke of torment ascends forever and ever. Where there is no rest day or night.
You see, before we become 2 Cor. 5:17 new creations in Christ, the Bible says we are Eph. 2:1-3 dead in our trespasses and sins, that we
live our lives according to the prince of the power of the air, Satan, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience. We live our lives in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind. And by nature we are children of wrath.
Jas. 1:14,15 We get enticed by our desires, we give in and we sin, and when sin is full grown it brings forth death.
2 Cor. 4:3-4 Without Christ, we are perishing. Those who don’t believe, their minds are blinded by the god of this age. John 8:34 We are powerless To overcome sin’s hold on our lives. And in this state, we are Heb. 11:6 unable to please God. John 15:4 We aren’t fruitful,
Gen. 3:1-6 just plain rebellious. Ro. 5:10 We’re enemies with God and
1 Cor. 2:14 we can’t live according to God’s design in our own wisdom. There is no excuse for not knowing Him.
Ro. 1:18-20 God shows His anger from heaven against all of us sinful, evil people who push away the truth. The truth about God is known to us instinctively. God has put this knowledge in our hearts. Since way back when and up to the present we have seen the earth and sky and all God made, and we have known of His existence and great eternal power. So we will have no excuse when we stand before God at Judgment day.
Ro. 1:21-23 They knew back then as we do now all about Him all right. But they wouldn’t admit it or worship Him or even thank Him for His daily care; nor do we. And you know what? After a while they began to think up sill ideas of what God was like and what He wanted them to do. The result was that their foolish minds became dark and confused, like us now. They claimed themselves to be wise without God and became utter fools instead. And then instead of worshipping the glorious, ever-living God, they took wood and stone and made idols for themselves, carving them to look like mere birds and animals and snakes and puny men.
Ro. 1: 24-25 So, God let them go ahead into every sort of sex sin, and do whatever they wanted to – yes, vile and sinful things with each other’s bodies. Instead of believing what they knew was the truth about God, they deliberately chose to believe lies. So they prayed to the things God made but wouldn’t obey the blessed God who made these things.
Ro. 1: 26-27 that’s why God let go of them and let them do all these evil things, so that even their women turned against God’s natural plan for them and indulged in sex sin with each other. And the men, instead of having a natural sex relationship with women, burned with lust for each other, men doing shameful things with other men and as a result, getting paid within their own souls with the penalty they so richly deserved.
Ro. 1: 28-32 So it was that when they gave God up and would not even acknowledge Him, God gave them up to doing everything their evil minds could think of. Their lives became full of every kind of wickedness and sin, of greed and hate, envy, murder, fighting, lying, bitterness, and gossip. They were back biters, haters of God, insolent, proud braggarts, always thinking of new ways of sinning and continually being disobedient to their parents. They tried to misunderstand, broke their promises and were heartless – without pity. They were fully aware of God’s death penalty for these crimes- yet they went right ahead and did them anyway, and encouraged others to do them, too.
Ro. 2: 1-4 “Well,” you might be saying, “what terrible people you have been talking about.” But wait! We are just as bad – if we have not yet accepted God’s grace. Yes, we are just as bad. And when you think they are wicked and should be punished, you are talking about yourselves, for you do these very same things. And we know that God, in justice, will punish anyone who does such things as these. Do you think that God will judge and condemn others for doing them and overlook you when you do them, too? Don’t you realize how patient He’s being with you? Or don’t you care? Can’t you see that He has been waiting all this time without punishing you, to give you a time to turn from your sin? His kindness is meant to lead you to repentance.
Ro. 2: 5-11 But now, you don’t listen; and so you are saving up terrible punishment for yourself because of your stubbornness in refusing to turn from your sin; for thee is going to come a day of wrath when God will be the just Judge of all the world. He will give each one whatever his deeds deserve. He will give eternal life to those who patiently do the will of God, seeking for the unseen glory and honor and eternal life that he offers. But He will terrible punish those who fight against the truth of God and walk in evil ways – God’s anger will be poured out upon them. There will be sorrow and suffering for all alike who keep on sinning. But there will be glory and honor and peace from God for all who obey Him, no matter who. God treats everyone the same. There is no partiality with God.
Ro. 2: 12-16 He will punish sin wherever it is found. He will punish the heathen when they sin, even though they never had God’s written laws, for down in their hearts they know right from wrong. God’s laws are written within them; their own conscience accuses them or sometimes excuses them. And God will punish the Jews for sinning because they have His written laws but don’t obey Him. They know what is right but don’t do it. The day will surely come when at God’s command Jesus Christ will judge the secret lives of everyone, their inmost thoughts and motive. This is all part of God’s great plan.
That is heavy! And it’s all true! The choice is yours. Will you respond by refusing Him or accepting Him? We all do one or the other, whether we say we do or not.”
Tomorrow we will continue with part two of the ROMAN’S ROAD inside the prison gates.
